§ Support / Licenses

Recover your license

Lost your key? Enter the email you purchased with and we'll re-send every license on file, each with a one-click activation link.

Use the address you bought with. We'll never say whether an address has a license, so nobody can use this to probe for customers.

§ Moving from the Mac App Store

Launch it from the disk image first

InboxFox, RasterFox and VectorFox unlock themselves if you already bought them on the Mac App Store. The direct build reads the purchase receipt out of the App Store copy, so that copy has to still be installed the first time you open it.

Don't drag it over the top first

Both apps are called the same thing, so dragging the new one into Applications before you have opened it replaces the App Store version and deletes the very receipt the migration needs. Open it from the disk image first. After that it can move itself safely, and so can you.

  1. 01

Leave the App Store version where it is

Don't delete it, don't move it. It can stay open or closed, it just has to still be installed.

  2. 02

Download the direct build and open the disk image

Grab the DMG from the app's page and double-click it. A window opens showing the app. Stop there.

  3. 03

Run it straight from the disk image

Double-click the app inside that window rather than copying it anywhere. It finds your App Store copy, confirms with macOS that it is a genuine, unmodified App Store build, reads the purchase, and unlocks itself on the spot. No key, no account, and it works offline. It also notices it is running from the disk image and offers to move itself to Applications — that is the next step, and it is safe to accept straight away.

  4. 04

Let it move itself to Applications

Click Move and Reopen. It copies itself into Applications and reopens from there, and it saves your purchase before it replaces the App Store copy — which goes to the Trash rather than being deleted, so nothing is lost either way. Prefer to do it by hand? Quit, drag it in yourself, and remove the App Store version whenever you like. The unlock is already saved by this point, so it survives whatever you choose.

  5. 05

Get a key for your other Macs

The unlock in step 3 covers this Mac only. To cover the rest, open the app's licensing settings and have a permanent license key emailed to you, then activate with it as normal.

Already deleted the App Store version?

If you had opened the direct build at least once beforehand, you're still covered: the unlock was saved the first time it ran. If not, reinstall the app from the App Store's Purchased list and start at step 1. It's still yours, so there's nothing to buy again.

Watch the order on the way back, though. Both builds install under the same name, so the App Store will put its copy exactly where the direct one is and replace it. Drag the direct app out of your Applications folder first, to the desktop or anywhere else, then reinstall from the App Store, work through the steps above, and move it back when you're done.

Or ask on the Discord and we'll sort you out by hand.
