ExiFox

Changelog

Every ExiFox release, what's new, what improved, and what got fixed.

Latest · Version 1.0.3

v1.0.3 Latest

Build 8

Fixed

  • Writes that ExifTool silently refused were reported as successes. Applying a preset could say "Applied preset … to 1 item" while the file was never touched — most visibly on raw files, where a tag that works on a JPEG may not be writable at all. ExiFox now checks that ExifTool really wrote the file, and tells you which fields it would not accept instead of claiming success
  • Applying a preset to several files no longer stops at the first file that rejects it. The rest are still processed, and the ones that failed are listed together at the end

Improved

  • ExiFox checks for updates shortly after launch. Previously the first automatic check could be a day away, so a new install would sit on an old version

v1.0.2

Build 7

New

  • A new app icon, matching the one on skulkworks.dev

Improved

  • Metadata, Our Apps and About are now three tabs in one settings window instead of two separate panels. The tab bar matches the other SkulkWorks apps, and the labels no longer crowd the top of the window
  • About ExiFox opens the settings window on its About tab, so the version, the update check and the support links all live with the rest of the settings

Fixed

  • The copyright notice still read 2025
  • The settings tabs were unnamed to VoiceOver

v1.0.1

Build 6

New

  • First direct release, distributed outside the Mac App Store with automatic Sparkle updates and a Homebrew cask
  • A manual update check in the About window, alongside the version and build number
  • An Our Apps pane in the About window, and an Other Apps item in the Help menu, both reading the live app list from skulkworks.dev so new SkulkWorks apps appear without an ExiFox update

Improved

  • No longer sandboxed, so ExifTool can rewrite files in place without re-granting access to their folder every session
  • ExiFox stays free with no in-app purchases, exactly as it was on the Mac App Store

Fixed

  • Two build files (an xcconfig and the test plan) were being copied into the app bundle on every release
